You could say that "no news is good news" or you could say that I just get slightly lazy sometimes. The lack of updates is not without a few gentle reminders (Brian, Sue, my mom and a few others... thanks for your patience!).
July 10, Frankie had a fever of 101.7 at home. We were in the ED at roughly midnight until 6:30am. The good thing was that they let us go. The bad thing was Frankie slept most of the time so he was well rested. Frank and I on the other hand... not so much. Since he did have a fever at home and a slight fever in the ED, we were sent home with oral antibiotics, mandatory when they take blood cultures. Thankfully, those came back negative for any infection.
July 17, Clinic visit that went primarily uneventful. However, I did get a slight slap on the wrist for letting Frankie "swim" at the West Haven beach in the Sound. Apparently, not the cleanest part of the water. It wouldn't matter so much if he didn't drink any water he was currently swimming in like pools, baths, and of course the Sound. When I asked, ocean water is better than the Sound, but still not so great. Just planning my summer.
July 18, 1:00am. Okay, so after the hand-slap about Frankie drinking the Sound water, and the uneventful clininic visit less than 12 hours earlier, we wake up to our little one vomitting. We were in the ED by 2:50am after giving him Zofran and his IM shot at home. At roughly 4:30 am they let us leave the ED. Thankfully, it was still dark out, so Frankie slept ... and we slept when we got home.
July 31, Frankie's last day of summer school. Joyously, he never misseed a day. The visits we had to the ED were always Thursday night or later! His schedule this summer was Monday through Thursday, so it worked out wonderfully, you know... if you're looking for that silver lining.
So, basically, things have been okay for all of us. We've been going back and forth about a possible vacation. However, everytime I think we can, we get hit with another bill. So, we're dipping into some "just in case" funds because all three of us need it.
We're headed to Duke for Frankie's 3 year post transplant visit the week of August 18th! WOW! I cannot believe it's THREE YEARS and we're still going through all of this crap (sorry, I couldn't resist). We've arranged to be there the same time Jessie and her family are there, so I truly hope we get some time to spend with Cari, Matt and the kids outside of the crazy evaluations.
And, as of this writing, we're still planning our mini-vacation to NC next week (the week before Duke). We may take a few extra days and hit some sights on the way down. We can't do it on the way back because Frank starts school the week of the 25th and I think Frankie starts that week or the next. What will I do with myself!?!
Hugs to everyone!
